With manufacturing facilities in 43 countries and a sales network in more than 100, AREVA offers customers reliable technological solutions for carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) free power generation and electricity transmission and distribution. AREVA is the world leader in nuclear power and the only company to cover all industrial activities in this field – from uranium mining, processing and enrichment as well as fuel manufacture, through reactor construction and services to reprocessing spent fuel. The group includes AREVA NP, AREVA NC, AREVA TA and AREVA T&D.

Founded in January 2001, AREVA NP combines the former nuclear activities of Framatome and Siemens. AREVA NP's key areas of activity are the development and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, as well as comprehensive engineering, instrumentation and control ( I&C ) and electrical systems, nuclear services, backfitting and upgrading, fuel supply and component manufacture for a wide range of reactor types.

AREVA holds 66 percent of shares in AREVA NP, and Siemens 34 percent. AREVA NP is headquartered in Paris, France, and has regional companies in Germany and in the USA. With a total workforce of over 16,600, the company is active throughout the world. In 2007, its annual sales revenues totaled 3.2 billion euros.

AREVA NP has a substantial portfoliothat includes being the OEM for100 light water reactors in twelve countries – representing 31 percent ofthe world's nuclear generation capacity.Current major projects include the construction of EPR plants in Finland, France and China. The EPR, an evolutionary Generation-III+ pressurized water reactor, is based on thefield-proven technology of advanced nuclear power plants in France and Germany. It is also being considered by America, United Kingdom, South Africa and other countries for the development of their nuclear fleet.

AREVA NP offers unparalleled experience, expertise, R&D capabilities for all reactor technologies, with the emphasis on pressurized and boiling water reactors. We provide the best solutions to meet the manifold challenges faced by electrical utilities all over the world. These activities, performed mainly for JET, ITER and European long term programmes, consist in :

• studies ( feasibility,design,calculation,safety,reliability and costing )
• supply ( mock-ups, prototypes and tokamak components )
• testing ( first wall and divertor )

As part of its overall activities in fusion developments, AREVA NP SAS calls extensively on small and medium size enterprises with specific skills as subcontractors.
